Let It Snow, Let it Snow, Let it snow

We got a little snow on Sunday afternoon! Perfect day to play outside. It was cold out but not TOO cold to play! Cara got new snow pants for Christmas, which was perfect timing to play in the snow. We ended up getting about 4 inches of snow and it was still coming down while we were out playing in it.

Scott and Cara busy shoveling the driveway!

Cara wanted Daddy to make her a snow castle
Cara's silly attempt at a snow angel on the driveway

The snow castle turned into a snow slide
Yeah, fun!

Dancing and playing in the snow was definitely a highlight of our day!

We had a fire in the fireplace and I made us all some hot chocolate once we came inside! What a fun afternoon!

The day after...

I look around our family room and wonder where I am going to put all these new toys! Guess I should have tried harder to pack away old stuff before Christmas!

Grandma, Grandpa and Great Grandma headed back for home after breakfast on Saturday! And we went over to Dendra, Larry, and Zaina's house for dinner and more Christmas fun!

Cara and Zaina posing in front of one of their trees
After we shared a yummy dinner it was time to open presents!
They got Cara a HUGE lollipop!
And the pretty pretty Princess game! Zaina has this game and Cara loves to play it at their house so it was an obvious choice to get it for her
All 6 of us!

We had a great time playing games, eating, and then driving around to look at Christmas lights together! Thanks friends for the fun evening!

Christmas 2009

I was much surprised to find it was 9:30am when I woke up on Christmas morning! I noticed Scott still asleep in our bed and no sign of Cara yet! Grandma and Grandpa were awake and just waiting for the festivities to begin. Scott finally woke up Cara at 10am after my failed attempt at 9:30!

Santa stopped by while we were sleeping! He must have enjoyed his milk and cookies!
Cara busy checking everything out! She wouldn't stop and pose for a picture, she was much to excited to start ripping into presents!
She got a fur real kitten from Mommy and Daddy that meows and rolls over, very cute! Next best thing to having a REAL one!
Here she opened her zhu zhu hamster and zhu zhu fun house for it to run in
She finally opened Santa's bag of goodies which included the doll she wanted that walks, a ballet outfit for Baby Cara, and a Barbie head that she can do her hair and makeup. Santa also brought her a train which she immediately said was the wrong one :(

Cara still opening presents (she had lots since she had G & G A's too)

We shared a yummy Christmas brunch after all the presents were opened of homemade pecan rolls, an egg casserole and fresh fruit. I think our camera battery was being recharged during this time. Then we spent the afternoon playing with new toys, assembling, batterying, and cleaning up wrapping paper!

I spent part of my afternoon in the kitchen preparing a Christmas dinner feast of turkey, mashed potatoes, homemade gravy, sweet potatoes, corn, stuffing and rolls! Grandma and Grandpa F came over for dinner with Great Grandma Edwards!

Two views, trying to get everyone in the picture

Cara with her two great grandmas! She was lucky to have them both here to celebrate Christmas with us!

About 20 minutes after this picture was taken I decided to miss the last step going out into the garage and twisted my ankle pretty bad. I spent the rest of the evening on the couch (and no it was not my attempt to get out of helping with dishes). The next day I realized I also hurt my left shoulder and right knee in my fall on the hard cement floor, but could have been a lot worse, just put a damper on my Christmas day!

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve is always celebrated with my family at Grandma and Grandpa F's house! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for all the presents and the wonderful dinner!

The kids were as usual very excited to be together and even more excited to get to open presents!

I like to take a couple pictures of the whole room so you can understand the fun and excitement going on

Cara and Mommy opening her present from her cousins Vince and Charlotte
Cara finished opening her presents and decided to help Mommy and Daddy open theirs
New calphalon pans, nice!

We arrived home from our fun Christmas Eve celebration to find Grandma And Grandpa Abbott with Great Grandma Abbott at our house, here to spend Christmas Day with us! Cara was excited to show them all the presents she got from her other grandparents! After playing for a couple of hours we got all dressed up to go to church for 10pm Christmas mass. Even though it was late Cara was a trooper at church!

We got home and got our reindeer food to sprinkle on lawn for the reindeer
We were sad that it wasn't a White Christmas and in fact had rained all day so the grass was pretty soggy to walk on

Cara and Mommy after church getting everything ready for Santa. We put out the cookies and milk, got Cara ready in her Christmas nightgown, and Mommy and Daddy climbed in her bed with her to read The Night Before Christmas. She was fast asleep and ready for Santa's visit!

And even luckier that Scott set the timer on the camera and captured it!

We had a great time even though it was pretty cold out. We all bundled up and enjoyed the evening. Grandma had hot cocoa ready and waiting for us when we got back to their house.
