Day 7 Boston Duck Tour

Tuesday morning we packed up our hotel rooms because we would be heading to the airport that evening to come back home. But first we went on a Duck Tour around Boston!

This very expensive bridge had some very neat architecture!
The Garden..home of the Stanley cup champions as well as the Boston Celtics
Cheers....where everybody knows your name!

Our bus ride went into the St Charles River for another scenic view of the Boston skyline
Cara got a turn to drive the boat

We bought the family picture of all of us before we boarded the Duck Tour

A little bit of play time in the Science Museum before heading to the airport

After spending at least 7 hours in the Boston Airport due to weather related delays we finally arrived home at almost 2am! Long day but a fun trip!!

Vacation day 6: Boston

Our Monday morning in Boston had us heading to the Sam Adams Brewery for a tour and a tasting!!

In this room they explain and pass around to try different wheats and things that they use to flavor the beer
The tanks in this room make experimental beers only, the big beer production happens at a different location in Boston.
In the tasting room they offered the kids a taste of beer...IBC root beer that is. Cara's first root beer ever and she was a fan even though it "was a little spicy"!

Beer tasting!
Later that evening we went to a Red Sox game at Fenway Park!

We had great seats and got to watch the Red Sox beat the Padres! What a fun night!

Day 5 Ferrying back to Boston, Plymouth Rock and More

After 4 days at the vineyard we cleaned up the house and packed up the vans and headed back to the ferry to take in Boston for a couple of days! We were on a freight ferry this time, no fancy seating or cafeteria like the previous boat, just jam packed cars heading back to the mainland.

More spectacular views of rows of sailboats at a marina

Grandpa Fox is in the window on the second floor of the boat
Driving in Massachusetts we saw a Ferrari, a $250K car being driven by some young guy

On the way back to Boston we were passing Plymouth Rock so I wanted to stop to take in the sights. After a nice lunch at a mexican place Scott, Cara and I walked to find the rock and other sights and the others hopped back in their van to head into Boston.

This is "the" plymouth rock which is were the Mayflower landed with the first pilgrims
1620, the rock has been moved twice but is now housed in this little cement canopy to preserve it for eternity

Another beautiful bay
This is the Mayflower II, the second Mayflower to bring pilgrims to America (we did the outside tour instead of paying for the inside tour)

The Mayflower II in the background
Cara dancing on the hotel sidewalk while waiting for the car for dinner. We stayed at the Westin Waterfront in Boston which was a very nice hotel!
We headed to the North End for dinner. Boston's version of Little Italy. We finally found a restaurant that could accommodate the 9 of us without a huge wait and they sent us to the bar while they cleaned up a couple of tables. I said we had kids with us and they said to go ahead. Apparently MA has different bar rules than IN. The kids bellied up for some kiddie cocktails!
Dinner was beyond fabulous at this restaurant! 5 stars from all of us!
We loved the atmosphere, food, wine, and company! What a great start to our Boston Adventures. I missed taking pictues at Mike's pastries, a HUGE hit in Boston, in which you can get cannoli's in any flavor, amazing eclairs, Boston cream filled products, yummy cookies and overall the best pastry shop we have ever been in. We ordered 2 huge boxes with a large sampling for everyone and went back to the hotel to pig out while watching the Miss American Pageant. What a fun day!

Saturday Day 4

I don't think a day went by that the croquet set went unused! It was a game we all could enjoy!

On this morning we went to a local farmer's market and the kids enjoyed the playground at the town hall.

Then a quick walk over the the general store for a snack got them off the playground!
Alley's general store, 1818
What a quaint little general store that sold EVERYTHING you could imagine.
It was a beautiful sunny afternoon so we headed back for some more beach time. However, when we got there it was apparent there was a storm out in the Atlantic making the waves super big and making the beach overcast!
But that didn't stop us

In playing in the sand we kept finding these little crab like creatures
Getting lots more use out of our sun hats

Wave jumping was pretty fun that day, as you can see the storm seemed to go further out to sea and the skies cleared up

Sand cave!
Getting thoroughly drenched in a very cold ocean!
Aaww...what fun!
We headed over to Edgartown that evening!
This is the transport over to Chappaquiddick, they put one or two cars on this little ferry and take them across to the other side. Chappaquiddick is famous for the Kennedy incident in 1969. It is a tiny island off of MV!Murdick's fudge is pretty yummy! This is one of the shops that makes the fudge!
Edgartown was pretty nice! Very pretty shops and homes!
more yard fun! Wiffle ball this time! A good way to kill time while dinner is being made!
I loved this picture!

That evening after dinner we headed back to Chilmark to watch the sunset!

Beautiful sunset!
