Day 5 Ferrying back to Boston, Plymouth Rock and More

After 4 days at the vineyard we cleaned up the house and packed up the vans and headed back to the ferry to take in Boston for a couple of days! We were on a freight ferry this time, no fancy seating or cafeteria like the previous boat, just jam packed cars heading back to the mainland.

More spectacular views of rows of sailboats at a marina

Grandpa Fox is in the window on the second floor of the boat
Driving in Massachusetts we saw a Ferrari, a $250K car being driven by some young guy

On the way back to Boston we were passing Plymouth Rock so I wanted to stop to take in the sights. After a nice lunch at a mexican place Scott, Cara and I walked to find the rock and other sights and the others hopped back in their van to head into Boston.

This is "the" plymouth rock which is were the Mayflower landed with the first pilgrims
1620, the rock has been moved twice but is now housed in this little cement canopy to preserve it for eternity

Another beautiful bay
This is the Mayflower II, the second Mayflower to bring pilgrims to America (we did the outside tour instead of paying for the inside tour)

Cara dancing on the hotel sidewalk while waiting for the car for dinner. We stayed at the Westin Waterfront in Boston which was a very nice hotel!
We headed to the North End for dinner. Boston's version of Little Italy. We finally found a restaurant that could accommodate the 9 of us without a huge wait and they sent us to the bar while they cleaned up a couple of tables. I said we had kids with us and they said to go ahead. Apparently MA has different bar rules than IN. The kids bellied up for some kiddie cocktails!
Dinner was beyond fabulous at this restaurant! 5 stars from all of us!
We loved the atmosphere, food, wine, and company! What a great start to our Boston Adventures. I missed taking pictues at Mike's pastries, a HUGE hit in Boston, in which you can get cannoli's in any flavor, amazing eclairs, Boston cream filled products, yummy cookies and overall the best pastry shop we have ever been in. We ordered 2 huge boxes with a large sampling for everyone and went back to the hotel to pig out while watching the Miss American Pageant. What a fun day!
