Day 3 Vineyard Haven Shopping and Lobster Fest

It was a little bit rainy this morning so we were off for some shopping!

We had some afternoon downtime after shopping so I stopped to take pics of everyone chilling
Dillon playing on his phone
Grandma reading emails on her phone
Lisa working on her real work on her laptop
Cara and Oscar playing with their DS's and leapsters
Scott using his laptop

Later that afternoon we took a drive to the cliffs of Aquinnah
Absolutely gorgeous views
Behind us was the Gay Head lighthouse

Could be a postcard picture!
Other than the utility pole could be another postcard
Cara got a nice viewpoint from Daddy's shoulders
Then a piggy back ride to the car on Mommy

After Aquinnah we drove to Chilmark to the fishing village of Nemensha
This is where we hand picked dinner! Some nice big lobsters and shrimp
One of the fishing boats parked on the dock
These rocks were pretty amazing, if this looks familiar to you it may be because you recognize it from Jaws, it was filmed here!

Great picture of Dillon on the rocks

Beautiful beach here! I suggested we do a big family picture here on the beach! So Scott put the camera on a lifeguard stand and I thought I would share the fun...
Oops, picture fired before Scott stepped away from the camera
Success
Oops, camera still taking pictures!
we bought these JUMBO shrimp which scott had to clean, de-vein, and cook
And check out these 3+ lb lobsters
Cara did NOT want anything to do with them!
Oscar on the other hand could not get enough!
If you can tell by my picture I enjoyed a nice steak while others enjoyed lobsters and shrimp! :) However, sangria was enjoyed by all (of the adults anyway)!

Day 2: Beaching It and Shopping

One of my priorities on this trip was relaxation and hanging out at a beach so our first stop the next day was South Beach. The Atlantic Ocean looks beautiful in these pictures.

It was pretty bright to try to look at the camera
family picture time
Grandma and Grandpa Fox
The kids had a ball playing in the sand
Dillon was buried by Scott, Cara and Oscar

The water was cold!

Later that day we went to Oak Bluffs and did some shopping and had an ice cream stop! I can't find any pictures of this fun!

Martha's Vineyard Vacation Day 1

We all hopped aboard an airplane to have a Fox/Abbott family vacation in Martha's Vineyard and Boston!
Scott and Cara briefing themselves on airplane emergency procedures
Dillon and Oscar saying Hi!

After arriving in Boston and picking up our 2 rental vans we drove about an hour and a half to Woods Hole MA to get on a ferry to MV which is about a 45 min boat ride away!

So, a little information about Martha's Vineyard, I didn't have much knowledge before we went. My parents and brother's family have been several times but this was the first time for us. Martha's Vineyard is a island off of Massachusetts. It is 87 square miles big but only 20 miles from one end to the other. About 15,000 people call it home annually but the population swells to about 75,000 during summers (especially weekends). The cost of living is about 60% higher on the island.
the three of us on the ferry, it was a bit chilly and windy but spectacular views
I loved the cape cod houses
Killing time on the boat, my brother Michael with his cell and Ipad and Scott reading a book

Snuggling with Mommy to stay warm
A view of the island from the ferry
Oscar and Cara
Once we were on the island we went to a restaurant for dinner called Linda Jean's, which also happens to be a favorite restaurant of the Clinton's (not that I even like the Clinton's but like the celebrity status )

Grandpa and Oscar coloring while we wait for our food
After dinner we headed to our vacation house. This house belongs to my brother's good friend Chuck who graciously let us use his house for a few days! (I took these pictures the next day because it was already dark when we got to the house that night)
The house was originally built in the 1850's (they found newspaper from 1857 in the wall during remodeling). They moved the house from one area on the island to this property at some point (not sure what year). This house sits on about 10 acres so we had plenty of room for play and privacy.

It had a nice large deck of the side although with the bugs and ticks it rarely got used. There is a guest house off to the side of the main house which is currently being rented out and somehow I didn't get a picture of it.

BFF Grace's Birthday Party

Grace's birthday party was held at a horse farm in Zionsville! Cara got to meet Grace's friends from school! As you can imagine it was a fight over who got to hold Grace's hand or sit next to her. Kids are so funny!

But the best part was that each kid got to ride a horse!

A little ring around the rosy fun!
Cara and Grace, what great friends!

Indy 500

On our way to the track Sunday morning! A happy family of 5 heading to see the Greatest Spectacle in Racing!
We found someone online selling a parking pass for Lot 2, which is pretty darn close to our seats so we jumped at the chance. Although the short walk was appreciated it was quite difficult driving in that close on the way there and especially on the way out!
We sat in the short chute between turns 1 and 2!
Oops, sun was pretty bright!
She was adorable using her binoculars so that she could see "everything"
The stealth bomber fly over was pretty amazing
Lucky for us that the stand we were sitting in were pretty sparse so we could spread out and actually feel the breeze blowing! Plus it gave Cara lots of room to move around when she was getting bored!

Congratulations to Dan Wheldon for winning a fun 500! The weather was
gorgeous, maybe a little too hot but we survived! Cara thoroughly enjoyed every minute, except for the traffic leaving! She rooted hard for Danica to win and it was thrilling to watch her lead 10 laps towards the end!

Fine Arts Senior Awards Night

Every year it is always hard to say goodbye to a senior class at school. This years students have been Scott's students since they were in 5th grade! At senior night Scott says a few words about each student and how they have impacted him as a teacher.

Cara and I

Cara was being pretty silly outside on our way to the car! perfect for a few photo moments!
